Project Overview
The Employee Management System was developed as Ruangguru's central HRIS to support the company's rapid growth from 200 to over 1,000 employees. The HR team needed a unified system to replace the fragmented tools they were using for different HR functions.

- Create a comprehensive HRIS to manage all employee data and processes
- Implement modules for onboarding, time tracking, leave management, and payroll
- Develop role-based access controls for sensitive HR information
- Provide self-service capabilities for employees and managers
The Challenge
The main challenge was creating a comprehensive system that could handle all aspects of employee management while maintaining data security and compliance with labor regulations. Additionally, we needed to ensure seamless integration with existing systems for payroll, attendance tracking, and benefits administration.
The Approach & Solution
We built a modular HRIS using Ruby on Rails that covers the entire employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to offboarding. The system includes self-service portals for employees and managers, automated workflows for common HR processes, and comprehensive reporting tools. We implemented role-based access controls to protect sensitive information and designed the architecture for scalability as the company continued to grow.
